What happens when there is no family?

I have to admit to being a little troubled by this stone.  Does this mean that Ms. Waterbury had no surviving family at the time of her demise?  While I acknowledge that she was just shy of her 93rd birthday... yeah, okay, it happens.

If I find out more about this lady I will be sure to share it here.  We should all be so lucky to have friends who will take care of us at times like that!

  1. The "our friend" certainly makes your wonder. Usually I see "wife/mother of" or something to that extent on memorials from this time. Perhaps she never wed or had children.

I'm happy to have found your blog through GYR Association FB page. :)

  2. Thank you for your comment, Nicole! I cannot tell you how much finding all of you has meant to me!

You're right about the gravestone. My knee-jerk reaction was, "but what about her family?" Without a spouse or children, many of the other family members may have been gone. You're right about that too.

I like your avatar by the way. It's very appropriate. :)
